had the privilege
of felicitating
the UNIDO Regional
Centre for Small Hydro
Power in my home
town,
Thiruvananthapuram,
on 4 April 2003,
when it was
inaugurated by the
Hon. Chief
Minister in the
presence of the
Director
General of UNIDO,
Mr. Carlos
Magarinos. The
Centre is indeed a
symbol of
international
co-operation in
the crucial sector
of power
generation in our
country, which
needs phenomenal
growth to reach
our goal of
becoming a
developed country
in 2020. It is
also a milestone
in our
collaboration with
UNIDO. I am
proud to be
associated with
the
Centre
right from the
beginning and I
look forward to
its success and
growth.
